HOEGANAES - OFFICE BUILDING​

​

Conceived as an office expansion that would more than triple the client's office space needs, this $5M concept design envisioned the creation of a new corporate headquarters for our industrial client. The new facility would allow the relocation of out of state executives, as well as provide staff and plant offices, and a sizable plant training facility along with a commercial kitchen. The design also incorporated a private plaza for staff to take their lunch breaks, and congregate while getting some fresh air. The project was to also include a facelift of the original office building's 1960's facade to match the new buildings design aesthetic.

​A small, but highly meticulous project, this new Kitchen to serve local at-risk youth replaced a conference room and storage closet to create a fully-functional commercial kitchen that will not only be used to feed kids, seniors, and others, but will also be used as a Teaching Kitchen to help groups from all ages learn to prepare healthy sustainable meals.​

Conceived by the CEO and founder of JRC, Inc., this uniquely designed facility​ incorporates a wide range of natural materials, natural light, exposed timber trusses, and magnificent interior volumes. The office building was this growing company's first construction development for their own use. Multiple new buildings are anticipated on this site as the company continues to expand their national service market. Exoterra excitedly awaits our next opportunity to work with this visionary client on their next expansion.

​​Desiring the look of an old warehouse, Exoterra worked with Fivestar Building Group to help them turn their new office dream into a reality. The building has a rustic industrial interior with a flare of modern accents. The facility houses their corporate and staff offices, cabinet, HVAC, plumbing,  and electrical shops. 


The President of Fivestar Building Group and I met on the soccer field where our kids had played soccer together for many years. It wasn't until 4 or 5 years in that we even had a discussion about each others line of work. Years later, we have worked on dozens of successful projects together and look forward to many more.

COLUMBIA FLEX BUILDING

To address the needs of a growing dental practice, our client approached us to discuss the development of a new ground up dental office in a growing suburb of Nashville. The office was designed to accommodate the dentist's current staff and future growth. A basement space worked with the slope of the land providing the client with a potential future lease space to improve this long-term investment. ​​

What was once a pre-engineered canopy structure was converted into a full-service Break Room and a new Employee entrance.


Masonry color selections and details were developed to blend in with the exposed aggregate facade of the existing factory. The design solution was a budget-friendly response to our Industrial client's needs.​​

​An exciting project for Exoterra and MNAA, the new fuel farm operations and maintenance building provided MNAA with a long overdue high-performance facility designed to meet their current and future needs. Housing a Control Room, Fuel Lab, Maintenance Bay, Offices, Locker rooms, Conference and Break room, the facility was designed to serve the growing needs for air travel in and out of  Nashville for decades to come.

The project made its way  circuitously to Exoterra as the company that hired us out of Kansas had called one of their staff working in New York city to ask if he knew any good Architects in Nashville. As grace would have it, this New York based employee lived in Springfield, TN and had attended church with Exoterra's founder.​

The Columbia Flex building was one of Exoterra's first projects with a local General Contractor and a new commercial and retail developer. The developer's goal was to produce the building on a tight budget, but also have it be durable long-term, and meet the aesthetic requirements of local Zoning guidelines. While the GC/developer team changed a few aesthetic details through the construction process, the project was completed and ready for tenants. Multiple other similar buildings  are planned in this same area.
