MAURY COUNTY EMERGENCY OPERATION CENTER
Budget constraints from the original construction of this jail kitchen resulted in system failures within the kitchen space within years of opening. Exoterra worked with County officials to provide them with a fully renovated space that will responds appropriately to the challenging kitchen environment found in the facility.
New walls, floor systems, cooler floor replacement, plumbing, electrical, and security features all help to prepare this space for decades of future service.
CONCEPT DESIGN
Winter 2016
Preliminary design for an upgraded county-wide 911 center. Project would share the site of the Emergency Operations Center, also designed by Exoterra Architects.
A first of its kind facility for this County, this EOC was designed to withstand 250 MPH winds and provide tornado protection for us to 600 local residents during an emergency event. Housing the county's Department of Emergency Management, the facility was constructed using Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF) for the primary bearing wall structure and hollow core concrete plank roof decking. The low-profile, broad footprint of the facility was not only functional, but was a requirement of FEMA for the design of these types of facilities. The building contains a central Emergency Operations Center space, a training room that doubles as an emergency event space, offices, shower rooms, a conference room, and public restrooms for emergency events. The facility is primed and ready to protect residents and first responders long-term.
